Parts of Speech- Unknown fact, Definition, Types & Examples

Definition: Different classes of words are called Parts of Speech according to their use in a sentence.

Types: There are eight types of Parts of Speech in English.

For examples:

1.Noun 2.Pronoun
3.Adjective
4.Verb
5. Adverb
6. Preposition
7. Conjunction
8. Interjection

1. Noun (noun):

a person by that word,Name of place or object is called Noun.

For example:

Sumon is a brilliant student. (name of person)

Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. (name of place)

Gold is a valuable metal. (object name)

2. Pronoun:

The Word of any “Noun” Used instead, it is called Pronoun.

For example:

Hasan is a good boy. (noun)

He goes to school every day. (Pronoun)

He is an intelligent boy. (Pronoun)

3. Adjective (Adjective):

The Word is a Noun or Pronoun’s fault, quality, condition, number, quantity etc Meaning, it is called Adjective.

For example:

Jahid is a bad boy. (blame)

Runa is a good girl. (quality)

He is ill. (condition)

I have five pens. (number)

He has a lot of money. (quantity)

4. Verb:

“To do something by that word Means, it is called a verb.

For example:

We play cricket. (verb)

He writes a letter. (verb)

She gives me pen. (verb)

I ran a race. (verb)

5. Adverb (Adjective) :

“Which word is a Verb or Adjective or Adverb Who makes special, is called Adverb.

For example:

Hossain goes slowly. (Specializes the Verb i.e. modifies it)

She is a very beautiful girl. (Specializes the Adjective i.e. modifies)

She walks very slowly. (Specializes Adverb i.e. modifies)

6. Preposition:

The word is a Noun or Pronoun sits before that Noun or any other word in the sentence with Pronoun Expresses relationship, is called Preposition.

For example:

The book is on the table. (Preposition)

The man is under the tree. (Preposition)

The fish is in the pond. (Preposition)

The bird flew over my head. (Preposition)

7. Conjunction:

Word is two or more words

(word) or phrase (Clause) is connected, it is called Conjunction.

 For example:

Hasan and Hossain are good boys. (joined the two words)

Rupom is a boy but Runa is a girl. (Joined two Sentences)

Do the work or leave this place. (Added two sentences)

8. Interjection (Emotional Preposition):

That word is sudden in mind Expressing emotion, it is called Interjection.

 For example:

Hurrah! Today is holiday. (What fun – Interjection)

Alas! He is dead. (Alas – Interjection)

Oh! What a nice view. (Ah – Interjection)

Bravo! You have done well. (Sabas – Interjection)
